BIA critic calls on Bush to fire Dave Anderson
Thursday, December 16, 2004

Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal, a critic of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, is asking President Bush to fire assistant secretary Dave Anderson.

Blumenthal said the BIA is a "dysfunctional" agency, citing a recent recognition case which was decided before Anderson joined the Bush administration. He noted that Anderson has recused himself on recognition, gaming and gaming related land-into-trust matters.

Anderson faced calls for his removal earlier this year when the recusal decision was made public.
